POLITICAL ADVOCACY TOOLS

As United Methodists, we recognize “our commitment to become faithful witnesses to the gospel, not alone to the ends of the earth, but also to the depths of our common life and work.” (United Methodist Social Principles, Preamble)

UMKR has collected some of the many great resources for political engagement created by our partners in the Palestinian rights movement.

This collection is a work in progress, and we will be adding to it in 2022.

Resources on this page:
General Board of Church and Society (GBCS), United Methodist Church
US Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR)
Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP)

GBCS has a helpful collection of resources for civic engagement for United Methodists and all people of faith and conscience.
Included in their toolkit:

Planning a Prayer Vigil is a checklist and timeline that will help you execute a well-planned prayer vigil for your concerns.
Calling Decision Makers supplies a sample script and steps for you to register your perspective on an issue.
Writing to Decision Makers presents you with helpful tips for writing your decision maker and an example letter from a concerned United Methodist.
See the GBCS Toolkit "Creating Change Together"

for our work to continue.

We need your support.

With very limited resources, UMKR has made a major impact in the United Methodist Church.

Groundbreaking divestment and boycott actions by the UMC would never have happened without UMKR's advocacy AND the extraordinary partners and allies who have worked with us and supported our efforts.

If we are to continue advocating for Palestinian rights throughout our international denomination, we need your support.

Please give as generously as you are able, and know that gifts of every size make a difference.

United Methodists are responding to Kairos Palestine: A Moment of Truth ,a statement of faith and urgent call to action from Christians in Palestine.  UMKR seeks, through nonviolent means and in partnership with Palestinian Christians, freedom, justice and equality for all Palestinians and Israelis.
